Do it yourself, home made:
I have a great tip for you today that will help you relax, soothe your muscles AND help to keep you warm.
It happens to be a homemade heating pad, and it is using just three things … uncooked rice, a large sock, and, if you’re feeling crafty, a ribbon or string to tie the sock shut (or you can just tie a knot in the sock!).
The amount of uncooked rice you’ll need will depend on the size of the sock you’re using as well as how flexible you want your homemade heating pad to be.
I personally like mine to be pretty flexible, so it will fit easily around my neck or shoulders if I’m trying to target those areas.
You’ll want to get any kind of rice EXCEPT processed “instant” rice, because it will definitely crumble with use.
All you have to do is pour the rice into the sock until you reach your desired length/flexibility, and then tie it shut. Just like that you will have made your heating pad
To up-level your heating pad and if you want a more soothing experience, add a few drops of pure organic peppermint or lavender essential oil to the rice and mix it well before adding it to the sock.
To use your new heating pad, simply place it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes depending on the wattage of your microwave.
When it’s heated to your desired temp, simply wrap your DIY heating pad around the area you want to target and let it do its job. That’s it simple as that.
These can be reused over and over again. You could even use similar fabric and make them as a homemade, inexpensive gift paired with a few other items for relaxation.
I would love to know if you give it a try and make one. Let me know!
